A transcript of the Q3 CC ASP question from JC's site. I think JC warned that this might not be exactly word for word.

Jerry Sanders
A: The answer to your question relative to ASPs -- the Duron price was substantially lower than I would have expected. Because of the fact that we did have to try to offset this platform differential because our motherboard providers were able to get higher prices for AMD-compatible motherboards than they were for Intel-compatible motherboards. They weren't as aggressive. And this really was a problem for us in the value space. So that took our ASPs down. I don't see that improving in Q4, so we're just basically saying, we're not gonna try to take on an additional -- it's a temporary thing -- I think when that -- when we have a better chipset solution, I don't think we'll see so much pressure on Duron pricing. Because it's a clearly superior processor, and at the same price, everybody wants to buy Durons. So we actually, you know, we actually think that, yeah, the Duron issue is strictly a price issue. In some cases, the customers absolutely at the lowest end just don't want to even talk about putting a graphics chip down on the board -- they've got to have a UMA solution. So we're just not gonna be in that space.
Q: Okay, got it, thanks.
A: I think this is temporary.
Q: All righty.

Bacchus <<Situation may change>>

That's is standard disclaimer, it means nothing but might have effect on the most paranoid.

This from Intel webcast, you have to click agree before they let you in.
