Third party candidates have a right to run if they want to, and people have the right to vote for them. I think Buchanan wanted to run primarily to hurt Bush, but who knows? Certainly Perot had the right to run, and cost Bush's father the election, and also took Dole out of what would have been a closer race. The fact that this time around the third party candidates had more of an effect on the Democrat is a switch from past elections, but what goes around comes around.

Have to agree with the nadar hurt gore thing, much in the same way that Perot screwed up the republicans 8 yrs ago...would also be my position that we dump the independent ticket based on this sort of stupidity or at least let the final election rest with 2 candidates, otherwise there will always be a spoiler effect.
