Dear Lew,

Just reading your musings about politics and watching the general chaos in the market from the Great White North...

The flaws in the political system were always there. It's just that they are a bit more visible today. But the sun will come up tomorrow and no doubt, the universe is unfolding as it should. Don't let this bug you.

And Lew, I hope that your personal choice of President wins the inevitable coin toss! <I hope I'm kidding>

Regards... X

Lew,

I am neither a Republican or Democrat. I believe (hope) I can observe the situation with a little more objectivity than most people. IMHO....

If the recount shows Bush winning, the Gore people should congratulate him and allow him to go about the business of transition and preparation. That would be in the best interests of the country and its reputation among fledgling democracies.

I have observed the Clinton/Gore team and their political advisors for the last 9 years. In a country with an abundance of sleazeball politicians that will say or do anything to win, this crew is by far the worst I have ever seen. In fact, I think Gore, Carville, and now Begala (based on recent comments) are dirtbags - regardless of their "supposed good intentions or ends".

I think Bill is a phoney, but he's more of a typical politician.

Gore is disgusting. Anyone that would lie about being at his sister's death bed in order to gain political advantage deserves the death penalty a lot more than some of the people that "George W" has put down. Gore has no soul. I expect him to fight tooth and nail with every sleazeball lie, trick, spin, and deception he can think of in order to win. His advisors are already throwing the bullcrap.

No doubt there are many problems in Florida - as there are in lots of other states. But they aren't unique to Jeb, George W. or the Republicans etc... I am also certain voting mistakes were made.

However, you can't change the rules in the middle of the game because you don't like the results or because the mentally challenged, close to senile, and homeless voters you bused in didn't fill out the forms correctly. If you believe that every vote should count regardless of how informed it is etc.. then at least make sure they know how to vote.
