Bob, I can say with absolute confidence that there will not be a re-vote in Palm Beach County alone. There is no possible way that this will be allowed. Clinton himself would step in to squash this idea.

The reason. Because you wouldn't get a 50% turnout if the entire election came down to a re-vote in this one county. You'd get more like a 95% turnout. And with Palm County being a strong democrat base, Gore would win by a large margin. This would be a totally irresponsible and entirely unfair solution. It would also be an illegal and unprecedented decision. Election results have been revised due to fraud, but not due to supposed claims of confusion.

A re-vote of all of Florida is very unlikely, but would be a much fairer solution. 52 of the 67 counties in Florida voted for Bush. You can't pick the biggest county that voted for Gore and decide to re-vote that county only and let the entire election come down to that vote. That would go down as one of the greatest travesties in the history of the US government.

The actual solution should be to take the vote for what it was and let the results stand unchallenged. Or re-vote the entire country and see if New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin and other states that BARELY went to Gore, still go to Gore. Letting the current vote stand and moving forward is the best solution, IMO.
