Tim Re..It wasn't confuseing at all. Perhaps my post was. I understood your arguement that each state should have a minimum vote. I was argueing against that idea. The states themsevles are not voteing the people are. Why should Wyoming's votors effect the determination of the next president more then Fairfax County VA, when Wyoming has less people? <<<<<<

There are several reasons for the EC. One is that if there are 3 or 4 parties, by combining parties, as many countries do now; you can still get a decision. Secondly, most people (unless they hate him) usually will vote for their represntative. But that will make it likely that the vice president and president will come from the most populous states. In order to give the smaller states a chance, they devised a system based upon a states reprsentation, one EC vote for each senator or congressman.
