Well i'll go flapjack one better and state this - No matter whether Bush or Gore gets more votes and/or is elected, i shall have no president ... of course in my case i put this down to the fact that i am a canehjun and a mexicano, up to here already in prime ministers and presidentes, thank you very much.

Neither G nor B will have a great deal of power, the word 'gridlock' keeps getting used lately, ever since the Gingrich era, eh ... the word 'mandate' i am using in that sense ... in a british parliamentary system the comparable situation would be almost that of a minority government, subject to a vote of confidence at any time? ... you have considerably less party discipline in your legislative branch as well ...

Could this situation have come about because there are no great overwhelming issues of the day? ... no world wars to jump into or stay out of or start up ... no meaningful scandals - after Watergate and Iran/Contra, Monicagate just couldn't get it up in the court of public opinion ... Nader has a point - What's the difference?
