It is not clear to me that a lot of people in PB county voted for Buchannan when they intended to vote for Gore. It is especially not clear to me how they could make that mistake and then not know until after they left the polling place that they had 1) made a mistake and 2) know the nature of the mistake. It is clear to me that a lot of people screwed up their ballots but unclear how "normal" that is. In grade school we were taught to be very careful not to spoil our ballots. At NYU graduate assistants have voted on whether to unionize. About 1300 votes were cast. The UAW is contesting the validity of about 300 of the 1300. That may say something about the voting process.
