tomorrow, Nov 11, is veteran's day.

for the past 2 years, palm beach county has observed the day with a huge community parade. i observed both and was amazed at the number of participants.
boy scouts, girl scouts, school bands, community organizations, police and fire depts, shriners, military organizations from all services and on and on.

Norman Rockwell would love it.

a while back, i received and accepted an invitation to join a special group of veterans in tomorrow's parade including WW II OSS and Special Service vets from the USA and Canada and US Special Forces vets.

i just received a call with more details. we will be the first military unit behind the grand marshall, General Alexander Haig. between the general and us there will be some bagpipers...the caller told me that he was instructed to specifically tell us not to use our hiking sticks to lift skirts.

happy vets day tomorrow to all the vets...happy birthday today to the USMC.
