All I want is a nice, orderly, legal, constitutional, statesmanlike transfer of a great deal of wealth from longs to shorts.

wayne, ss security isn't designed to be an investment. it is design to be a transfer of wealth. therin lies the problem. no investment = little return. in population gets smaller, out population gets larger, problem.

i'm 100% for not allowing ss to be invested in stocks. a t-bill return is fine. ss in ss will bankrupt the system more quickly than our current course. you don't invest near the tops of bubbles. period.
