100,000,000 people had their ballots counted. That is not the point. The US is a country that is supposed to protect the rights of the few against against a tyranny of the many, just as it is to protect the many from a tyranny of the few.

Negating the votes cast by an elderly element of the electorate, and saying that if they weren't aware enough in dealing with those ballots then their votes don't count violates most reasonable people's sense of what is right.

For Bush to rush to claim victory and to not insist that the people in this pivotal state, in this pivotal county be truly and fairly polled is revealing of less than admirable qualities. The irony is that Bush would hold himself to have a higher moral standard than the man he would replace.
