>> Are they counting the 1 million absentee votes from Calif. If Bush got 1/2 (which is expected)would that give him California?

I'm a little confused by your math, Dealie. CNN shows the California count as

Gore: 5,254,500
Bush: 4,054,756

If there are 1 million absentee votes from Calif and Bush got 1/2 of them, he'd end up with 4,554,756 and still lose by a wide margin, even if Gore got zero votes out of the remaining 500,000.

Bush is toast in California.
