Secy. Baker has brought up the IL race in 1960 and the 1976 election in general, as examples of close races where the Republican candidate decided not to challenge.

In 1960, the vote in IL was close, but not on the order of this race.

I followed the '76 election closely. At no time after the vote was the subject of recount in OH and MS even mentioned.
Both those states were close but nothing like the FL closeness.
