I have a question. How can votes taken by an electronic counting mechanism change? I mean, where I live, we personally insert our ballots into a machine, which takes it and digitally changes the LED counter on the front of the machine. I have always assumed that from that point on, the machine scanned my ballot and registered my vote along with the others. How they get the results from there I have no idea. When they do a recount, do they reinsert each ballot or what?

Thanks in advance

Anyone?
