Petz, I think Dell will get enough P4s over the next two quarters to continue keeping AMD out of the Dell picture. The question is what will the other builders get?!?

I suspect that Dell will get all P4 production for the next 2 quarters, less 5 CPUs. One for CPQ, one for IBM, one for HWP, one for GTW, and one defective chip for MUEI.

Petz, Well, he will be at the back of the queue, that's for sure, at least until AMD has parts to spare.
If Intel feeds Dell preferentially to the exclusion of all others that will help AMD enormously as all the others will build resentment for both Intel as well as Dell.
What better way to make them proselytize AMD.
Intel is betting it can get it's act totally together by next year. If they fail it will hurt them and smash Dell because for all their size Dell is a 1 trick pony. Dell does one thing well amd all the others know how they do it and are learning how to execute. All the others need to do is burn their wholesale and dealer network to death. If they fail Dell will keep taking their sales away from them. The others need to liberate their dealers.
