Pete, the voting process has always been politicized, starting with the infallible founding fathers restricting voting rights to the propertied classes, and following through with the long tradition of Jim Crow in the south. Given the great respect the Republicans showed for the results of the last presidential election, I don't think there's anything that could happen that would make things worse.

Given the above, I think that the original count is final and Gore lost and he should face that, just like Ashcroft, Nixon, and many others before. He has been given two chances and failed twice.
