Hutch, the USA is the United STATES of America. States, states, and more states. State rights are preserved in the electoral college and the following electoral procedure in the house of representatives where each state gets just one vote. The process has been well thought out and quite brilliant in design. The electoral college is much more than a redress for poor communication. However, if we can't get people to understand how to follow a simple paper ballot, they have no idea of the electoral college issues, too bad. We are quickly coming to the day where individual responsibility means nothing. The result becomes slavery.

MOREOVER, there have been 3 polls reported on TV in the last few days which confirm (with +70% for) that Americans may not be happy about the outcome of the election or the exact mechanics of the election, but DO NOT wish do away with the electoral college.
