Take Bush and Gore out of the equation. Take the National results out of the equation. Take the Florida margin out of the equation. Point #1: 95.8% of Palm Beach County voters understood the ballot. Is that within an acceptable margin of error to say that 4.2% voided their ballots by voting twice? Political ramifications aside, is this enough of a margin of error to consider overturning the results? It has been demonstrated that this margin of error on the part of voters is not uncommon in Palm Beach County in at least one major election prior to this one. It was apparently OK at that time. Point #2: What precedent is set for challenging elections in the future in Florida and in other states by voiding the election based on an error of 4.2% of voters? Do we want, as Americans, to see every election in every precinct, in every county, in every state of the Union fall under the microscope when someone doesn't like the way that the election goes? Point #3: Political ramifications aside, what precedent is set by holding elections outside of the scope of the first Tuesday in November, until such time as the challenger of the election is satisfied with the outcome? Point #4: Political ramifications aside, is it possible for a revote to be fair? Take the politics out of it, and answer these points. It should not matter which foot the shoe is on. What is fair, and what can all Americans live with in the future should be our focus? Think about it, politics aside for a moment...
