They could draw straws but then they'd argue that there was a technical problem with the straws, Bore would have won if they had flipped coins, a three-legged sack race would have better represented the will of the people, there was confusion about whether the winner was the one who got the long or short straw, Jessie J. would weep for those who didn't understand the rules of the straw drawing, talking points about straw drawings would be distributed and claims of a grand conspiracy would surface. ; )

If nothing else, at least a lot of people have learned something about the voting/election process and it will be subject to examination for improvements. Such is life in a democracy. And many things are going just fine in the biggest scheme of things.
