I am sure that they are, and I am very pleased for everyone in Texas. However, and this is just my opinion, Engler fought over terrific odds in a labor state by doggedly sticking to his guns. This is a quality that was last found in Mr. Reagan. Tommie Thompson also has that quality. George's character, as you know better than I, may shine through this. If it does, then that's great for all of us conservatives. If not, then he'll burn faster than a forest full of Spotted Owls. Just MHO, though.

I'm here to tell you that things in Texas are much better than they were. There is a true sense of bipartisanship in Austin.>

No matter how the Dems tried to disparage Texas in this election, the fact is President-elect George Bush, Jr. was voted back into office for his second term. I'm in Houston and I can tell you things here are much less testy than when Ann Richards governed.
