What makes anyone think a hand count is more accurate than an "automated" one? I think the chance for errors are much greater with humans. Just look at manufacturing. Inspection by machine is overwhelmingly more reliable than humans. I would concede, that it is possible that the "machines" are not new enought but I doubt it.
