>> until a small group of "dem party adults" call on him and tell him to stand down the troops and concede. <<

That's already started to happen, but so far it's just independent voices within the party. That's why controlling the media spin is so important right now.

The national networks should play the video of Jesse handing out cigs for votes. Let's see him BS his way out of that with media spot light focused squarely on him.

The whole thing is sickening. I think we're going to have to realize as a nation that the system is far from perfect, but unfortunately it's the best system we have. I'm sure there will be more reforms after this election, but you can't have a contest and then retroactively change the rules.

Gore is finished. He should just admit it. Any court dispute will go all the way to the Supreme court. They will be loathe to change a National election.

Al Gore was the only executive office candidate to have volunteered to serve in VietNam. Yes, he was only an Army journalist. But he could have used his privileged position to hide out in the National Guard like W and Quayle did. Or he could have gotten a deferment for education, marriage, or critical employment, like Lieberman, Cheney, Newt, Winkman, and I almost forgot Clinton did.

BTW Clinton was not a draft dodger like many right wingers like to say. Draft dodgers were those who having been drafted, fled to Canada...

Gore will be patriotic enough to concede defeat if he comes up short in the final vote count on Nov 17th in Florida.

Take care all. Next time anybody comes up with a new conspiracy theory, I hope that at least they look at the guy in the mirror to see if he is maybe a little bit on the paranoid side.

I think that Bush can be a decent president. Not the brightest. He just said on CNBC that there had already been 2 "votes".

Take care all. Shalom. Winkman

PS: I was married 2 weeks after marital deferments ended. We could have moved up the date as others did. I went from college to being a structural dynamics engineer for a defense company My local draft board gave me an occupational deferment.

O/T - forever politically correct.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 10 - Leaders of Florida's Seminole tribe filed suit today in federal court, claiming that the use of Arrows on election ballots was demeaning and intimidating to Native Americans. The suit alleges that nearly 19,000 members of the tribe, who had intended to vote for George W. Bush, became so distraught at the sight of the arrows that their hands began to shake uncontrollably, causing them to mispunch the ballot.

The chief of the tribe noted that many of these people left the polls in tears, and came to him saying they "knew they had punched more than one hole in the ballot."

The suit calls for the scalp of the local election officials who designed the ballot.
