Far be it from me to defend the rationality of March valuations on the Nasdaq, least of all on pure play 'net stocks, but the situation with ICGE may not be QUITE as far-fetched as your numbers suggest. I believe that ICGE's capitalization (like CMGI's) was based on the (over-)estimated value of the diverse companies it was (or was believed potentially to be) "incubating." Applying conventional analysis to the numbers ($/employee) may therefore be a bit misleading, though, I repeat, I don't disagree with your general argument at all. Of course, by now I don't think you'll find very many people who would.
