you are right. the event called the energy crisis did occur earlier, so it was an incorrect term for the oil industry collapse that occurred in the mid 80s.

but it happened nonetheless.

i do credit reagan for winning the cold war,
and bankrupting russia in the process.

but we suffered serious economic consequences as well
with the timing of supply side tax cuts,
which clearly did not work.
