UF - I promised KG to put some flowers on the porch....well for what it is worth this is me trying ot be positive:-

1. INTC, DELL box makers etc. I think that there had to come a time when people stopped buying/replacing /upgrading their PCs. Only a few years ago thre wasn't a PC industry and I and my pals all have been used to getting the latest x86 processor and changing PCs every year. But now my Tosh Portege 7020CT does everything I need. I don't need any more speed on that.

2. There will be new leaders and INTC may be one of them. MSFT may be in their but PALM and Handsrping will be there. So will some of the boradband players, the Photo-optics and the others. But that is just a shuffle of the leaders. It isn't the end of the world as we know it. I belive that the biotehc industry will be a big winner over the next decade. I have never read a biotech 10K or 10Q or prospectus that I understood. I don't think thatI'm alone in that but I do believe that biotech is going to grow.

3. The weekly downgrade of INTC is now getting silly. INTC is an integral part of the palm held business and will do well from that segment and the other segments in which it owns stakes in growing companies that most of us haven't heard of.

4. There IS going to be a wireless internet business and all sorts of new companies are going to come to the front as they start to do very well in an entirely new industry. My guess is that MSFT will be one of the biggest winners in that space.

5. Not all chip/semis are doing badly. They all get hit together but they aren't all doing the same since they cover so many diverse fields.

6. There IS going to be an end to the election and I agree with those that say resoution will be by latest next Friday. I think the two leaders know the effect of an eventual public raprochment will have and they will both do it for the sake of the Country and that will have a beneficial effect on the market.

7. I listen to Larry Kudlow and he and his ususal opponenet on CNBC are now ad-idem that the slowdown is coming much more quickly and with much more ferocity than anyone ( except those of us here on VOLS porch) had expected. In those circumstancs the FED will likely do something or take the consequences of causing a very bad recession which may be very difficult to get out of. They meet next week and a change in bias might come especially if the political crisis hasn't abated.

8. For no particular reason and based on no special experience or knowledge I jsut do not believe that thisis the end of the World as we have know it.

Best regards,

L
