Democrat and Republican poll workers count the vote. In the real world Democrats are often bought off to betray their candidate. Happens all the time. Every election. From the bottom to the top of the ballot. That's what the Democratic party is for - to attract and then disfranchise the votes of elderly, black, labor, and other citizens who would otherwise organize a third party.
