There's one scenario that's been floated that has Florida still not decided when the Electoral College meets, which apparently would mean Gore would be elected, because he would have the majority of the EC. The notion is that a state shouldn't have the ability to hold the whole electoral process hostage by not participating, and so if a state doesn't make it in time, the EC proceeds without them. My prediction (and hope) is that the courts will get in gear with great rapidity and have Florida settled in time. Peter
