Call your broker and say 'please place a stop-loss order on my stock'.

What your broker hears is 'please take my stock from me at this reduced price, no charge, oh, and hit me with a commission too'.

The Market Makers love stop loss orders, they can take the price down there for a couple of minutes just to hoover them up. I've seen it happen. I've even picked up some stock that way once, a price dip of 1/2 a point for just the block of 100 I priced at 12 1/2. That stock is now over 40.
