NHC Communications Signs Agreement with Taiwan-based Telecom Distributor
MONTREAL, Nov. 14 /CNW/ - NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC - news) today announced that Delhum Technology & Service Corp (DTSC), a distributor of telecom products based in Taipei Taiwan, has signed a distribution agreement for the sale of ControlPoint(TM), NHC's remotely managed cross-connect solution. NHC also announced that DTSC has placed an initial order of ControlPoint(TM), as they plan to immediately address customer requirements.
"DTSC has an impressive base of customers that include service providers and Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs)," said Sylvain Abitbol, President and CEO, NHC Communications. "We believe this agreement will be a platform for NHC to expand further into the Taiwanese telecom market and ultimately into other parts of the Asia-Pacific region."
According to Chong Hwa Telecom, the Taiwanese ILEC, the market in Taiwan for broadband Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services is expected to grow to more than 1.2 million subscribers by Q4 2001. DTSC plans to take advantage of the broadband evolution in the Taiwanese market as CHT, Chong Hwa Telecom, TCC, Taiwan Cellular Corporation and KG Telecommunication Corp. are amongst its largest customers.
"In a market that is growing so rapidly, the reliability and scalability of technology is paramount," said William Yang, President and CEO, DTSC. "We looked at several options and found that NHC's ControlPoint(TM) solution, with its user friendly software, small footprint, open architecture and true any-to-any cross connect capability proved to be ideal for the rapid deployment schedule our key customers are planning."
NHC's international activities are headed by its Montreal headquarters and are complemented by its European subsidiary in Paris, France. During the past nine months key accomplishments include an agent agreement with Allcom Telecomunicazioni for the Italian marketplace and the conclusion of key partnering agreements with international telecommunication equipment vendors. NHC will expand its international network through further sales, distribution and marketing partnerships of this kind. "A key element of NHC's growth strategy is to align ourselves with major telecom distributors and vendors in important markets around the world," said Peter Benisti, Vice President, Worldwide Sales. "We will work closely with DTSC to enhance the broadband infrastructure throughout Taiwan."
