See Carolyn(and I am not singling you out here), your post is an example of how partisanship works.

IF a member of one's own party said they were against the EC, one would say "They wish to amend the Constitution to abolish the EC"

But, if a member of the opposing party desires the same thing, one says "She wants to do away with part of the Constitution".
