clever, but ultimately unconvincing! The scale of the offense must lie in the offense itself, either in terms of its intent or magnitude, and not in its context. At least, that's what an absolutist like yourself should believe, because the alternative is a relativist conclusion that even a gross violation would be acceptable as long as it was insufficient to change the outcome...

btw, I just rented and watched The Candidate again tonight, and it's amazing how little has changed in three decades (except the hair and the clothes). It's also amazing how *&^%! good-looking Robert Redford is, which is what kept ctg interested... Those who have found the last few days transfixing but haven't seen it should certainly check out the 1972 political classic...
