Ken,

CHK vs CRK One letter difference many similarities.

A few weeks ago I did so looking at the O+G industry. Almost without exception they are all deeply in debt. One thing I noted about CRK was that for the last quarter they received a pretty high natural gas price. If you look at CHK they had hedged forward a lot of their production so their numbers were much lower than they could have been. CHK also has no hedges going forward from Nov. 1st so I think their earnings should explode. Of course they also have shares they used for taking over Gothic that are hitting the market. Gothic will give them 25% more production per quarter that has not been factored into any of next years numbers. The big if is that with NG sitting at around 5.50 these companies are going to make a ton of money. If it moves up higher so will these stocks. If it stays put around 5.0 it will take a while for these guys to get their balance sheets in order. If it drops down so will these stocks.

Joe

PS I thing NG could break out on the top side if we get some really cold weather.
