That is my understanding too. Just like a flat topped pennant usually breaks upward.

We're debating nomenclature, but a descending triangle (which is the closest pattern I think) has a 45% failure rate before breaking, so unless we have a protracted break below 3K (more than one day, on very heavy volume, with follow-through) it's essentially 50-50 in my book. But if it does break seriously...
