You and I disagree fundamentally on this issue. I believe in the last election, big business spent $15 for every $1 spent by unions. If there were union dues check-off, only about 5 percent of union members would likely state that their dues could NOT go for political purposes. The vast majority of working men and women understand the necessity of strength in numbers. I have written on this topic extensively the past two or three months, and won't do so again here. I think that when you say "I don't believe in unions being involved in politics," you also fear that unions are powerful in getting out the vote, as we saw Tuesday in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The common man and common woman need a voice in Washington, D.C., to make sure that capitalism is fair for all, and not just the shareholders.
