Having followed gold for many years I can say that the current action does not resemble the action seen before major bottoms in the past. The spike after the announcement of the Washington agreement was preceded by gold stocks outperforming gold. The same was true prior to the huge 1993 gold bull. But recently gold stocks have been acting much worse than gold bullion.

Until gold stocks start to consistently outperform bullion (even if both are declining) hopes of a gold bull are just wishful thinking. And how low she goes before the trend changes nobody knows.

Once gold stocks start to outperform nobody will be more bullish on the sector than me. But until then, extreme caution is warranted.
