<font color= orange> re colored fonts by users

Allow passages in the body of messages
to be colored by users. This will make it CLEAR
(if used sensibly) what is that _users_ *wish* to
EXPRESS.

IMO, that's what italics and bold are for. Do this for extra attention Color would be too confusing for the entire body. Also I'm thinking of the "search results" function to be returned to red. Further, "if used sensibly": That's a joke right<g> Have you ever tried to read the lyrics to Mellow Yellow in yellow fonts?<g>

>>Don't allow colored backgrounds<<

You mean like purple<g> And especially no "spacy wallpaper" backgrounds.

>>Colored titles<<

How about<blink>BLINKING TITLES</blink> There still are a few of them out there I believe, but need to be viewed in NN. Has that been fixed?

>>Colored backgrounds would give
us ugly unreadable messages <<

Same can be said about colored fonts in the text. Some colors can be used to make the text transparent on a white back ground. And a few others(IE: lime green) make it very bothersome on the eyes.

All in all, I think they ought to be careful what they permit in the "stock talk" threads, but as I mention in my previous post.....give the "coffee shop" a little more freedom.

FWIW, here are a few of the things I've seen happen on SI when they forgot to clean up their BIC:

-Blinking titles
-Large/small font titles
-large/small font text in messages
-Full message text in color/font sizes
-Images for titles
-Images as text in a post
-Colored background or "wallpaper" backgrounds.
-Threads that turn every message into color or font size-including your profile after you've made a post on the thread.
-Nothing threads: Threads that have no title and one must know the subject ID# to find the thread

I'm sure there are other things that I can't recall right now because I'm only on my first cup of joe.

One thing that I *HAVE NOT* seen is music in a post or a thread title. Try as we have, I haven't heard of one, yet.
