Of the 67 Florida counties, only Palm Beach has the questionable ballot and only Palm Beach has this extreme number of invalidated ballots. There are plenty of old folks living and voting in other counties -- I submit that the error rate is much higher in Palm Beach because of the butterfly ballot. Double-punching Al Gore and Pat Buchanan by so many in only one county is a clear indication of a failure of the vote recording system there, not the mistakes old people are supposedly wont to make.

The right to vote is rather sacred. I want to see it protected from error as well as from intentional abuse. If it takes a while longer, by process of law, to determine the winner, than so be it.

By the way, once the process is finished, whichever candidate is elected makes less difference to me than the protection of our citizens right to vote.
