My suspicion of Buchanan's motives is motivated by the reports that the Reform Party and Buchanan himself, as a Republican in the primary, got more than 3,000 votes in Palm Beach in the 1996 Presidential race. This is all anecdotal, but I've seen it in so many places that I give it credence. Clearly the percentage of votes Buchanan got in Palm Beach in the 2000 election seems disproportionate.

As a lawyer, I don't give any credence to any interested party's attribution of his own motives as disinterested. It's ipso facto bullshit. Buchanan's got an ax to grind. End of story.
