Good point. And when it comes to vote fraud, there is no "worst" because that implies a "best". Any vote fraud is bad.

It was explained to me that the reason we have it the way it is is to reduce corruption. I now realize that is true, if the Electorial college is thrown out it will give large corrupt areas of the states much more power.

Exactly, It is said that power corrupts and absolute power absolutely corrupts. (or vice versa) <g>

The basic message I got from the Gore campaign was, "Put me in power and I'll take from them and give to you". Who's next?

In that sense we are more of a republic than a democracy.

Ok, I really am gone for tonight.

Bye!

Republic vs Democracy
The main difference, as I understand it, between a republic and a democracy. Is that in a republic you elect officials to make your decisions for you. In a democracy everyone gets to vote on any decisions. So most modern democracies aren't really democracies.
Hopefully all the attention (and pain) paid to Florida today will lead to better electoral procedures and a real democracy in the future. Otherwise once again we will learn nothing.
