One single question doesn't screw up an election.

One bad answer can.


Had the moderator of the first debate opened up with:

"George W. Bush, Did you arrange to have your college friend who accused you of drug dealing killed in a Texas prison?", Bush would have been finished.

Dukakis was way ahead in the polls going into the 1988 debate, and Bernard Shaw finished his candidacy with a single act of irresponsible journalism.
