but I have put forward my theory, which is that as a hard party- er, he is actually not sure if he ever did a line, and therefore is reticent because he does not want categorically to say no and have an incident be brought forward that can be proven....

This is doublespeak for his not being sure that he can get away denying he snorted coke?

Saying he regularly got so falling down drunk that he didn't have any idea what he did is worse than saying he did coke. Drunks that have no memory of events that transpire while they are drunk are the worst drunks. I don't believe he drank that much that often. I also don't think if he ever did coke that he was always so drunk he forgot.
