Even though all the optical companies are saying there is no slowdown, the market thinks it is simply a matter of time. Just look at how the stock prices have dropped for Worldcom, ATT, Sprint and all the carriers. Especially the CLECs that are running out of cash. Optical components sell only to the carriers, not to people like you and me. There is certainly insatiable demand for bandwidth, but the carriers fierce competition has made bandwidth a cheap commodity.

I still like NUFO even though I haven't held a position for several months. As I think most know, I'm funding a start-up in the f.o. components space and I had to drop several positions to do it. I still hold SDLI, JDSU, VRTA, EFNT, and a few others.

I know it's hard holding stocks at substantial losses, but I try to sort out the difference between market cause and company-specific cause. When the market comes back, NUFO will too. Even though it's a recent IPO, it's been around for ten years and has a solid customer base in a thriving sector.
