John, Sanctity agreed- I have no antipathy toward Mssr. Gore though I'm not too fond of his proposed programs. We need to have some finality here. I see eventually all counties in Florida being recounted by hand- and also recounts in Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, and New Mexico... and then come the legal challenges for improper behavior at polls in at least Florida, Iowa, and Wisconsin for openers...

New Mexico is on the verge of being given to Bush. Will Mssr Gore not challenge that result?

And we do not know the eventual totals of the popular vote either.....My home state of Arizona last night announced on the news that over 600,000 absentee ballots had not been counted for e.g...

<this process has to be allowed to play out> OK John then let's,

BE fair about it.

Why hand count only in areas of Florida where Gore is likely to pick up votes???

If we're going to do hand counting then let's ALSO do it in areas where may Bush votes were thrown out because of ballot problems.

Just one example on MSNBC this AM showed 22,000 ballots were thrown out in an overwhelmingly Bush county in Northern Florida. Don't you think they're entitled to a hand recount?

Once you start hand counting in FL, John, is it fair to deny hand counts in dozens of other key counties in at least 4 other states that could swing this election either way.??

Right now, there are at least 3 states with only 6,000 vote majorities for Gore! There are bona fide complaints of bad ballots and fraud from many republican voters already on record with officials in those states.

If you want to do this right, it seems to me you have to give "disenfranchised" voters in those key states the same rights to a hand count you are arguing for in predominantly democrat areas of Florida.
