JW--great post re Gore. His behavior at the 1st debate was enough to convince many that he was not in control of his emotions.

Again, perceptions depend on where you're sitting. Bush's behavior during the 1st debate was enough to convince many that he's not bright enough or enough in command of difficult issues to be President.

bush is the prez.

i haven't felt this way since the days after kennedy was assasinated. Ask yourself--what would the outcome be if by some chance they
took the presidency away from bush and handed it to gore. the acrimony, furor, devisiveness and uproar would go on for years. gore
MUST know this on an intellectual level. CERTAINLY his advisors have told him this. yet he threatens to tear the country apart

Again, this depends on your perspective. "Bush is the Pres" is based on the same incorrect projections by the media that created all of this mess (Gore win Fla, Bush wins Fla, no one wins Fla). Florida was too close to call and Florida LAW calls for a recount in such an instance. At this point, NO ONE is the president, so it can't be taken away from anyone at this point (no matter what the Republican "spin" is...)

My frustration with this whole thing is the ridiculous partisanship. Does anyone truly believe that if the shoe were on the other foot that the Republicans would act any differently than the Democrats have? (oh yeah, they showed their interest in "fairness" during the debacle of the Impeachment process...)
