Really getting off on your mindset today about life and the natural selection.
You should read, The Beak of the Finch: by Jonathan Weiner
It is one of the most eye opening books that I have read.
The Weiners observed twenty generations of Darwins finches and came up with a new understanding of life itself. The conclusion was that evolution happens at a much faster rate than anyone ever realized.

So what we observing in Fl. is just natural selection and the weeding out of idiots that can't follow instructions on election day. How can these people run twenty bingo cards at one time and can't make the right single punch is beyond me.

the voting process highlights human imperfection
it allows for error
it allows for some bribery
it allows for some intimidation
it allows dead people to occasionally vote
it allows the media to influence voter turnout
it allows the polls to foment apathy

what I find so remarkable, is that we accept a certain unstated amount of "sloppiness and tolerance for error"

if it goes too far, we have the mechanisms and institutions to step in

remarkably we choose NOT to use them 99% of the time

Nixon put it well: "Democrats stole the election fair & square"

as long as it was done quietly and they didnt get caught, we tend to tolerate it

Old Mayor Richard Daley must have HATED Nixon far more than he loved Jack Kennedy
hated enough to risk getting caught BEFORE the voting booths closed

as long as humans are involved in voting, imperfection persists
our vote represents an interesting example of widespread petty larceny

excellent quote, Jim
