I am not losing my credibility...Trent Lott himself made that "lightning strike" reference about Hillary Clinton as a possibility of her not getting seated.

BTW, the right does burn crosses(no one has ever accused the KKK of being a leftist organization). Besides, the left tends to use things like bombs(SDS at University of Wisconsin-1970, molotov cocktails(SNCC riots in 1965).

I live in the South, too, and the type of people that burn crosses are not liberals, but they do tend to vote Democrat, although I'd call them Dixiecrats. There's probably some in the Republican party, too, came in with the Religious Right. If the Democrats decided to be pro-life, these birds would go back to the Democrats.

Despite what Gore tells people, the Republicans mostly voted for the Civil Rights Act, it was the Dixiecrats who voted against it, the George Wallace types. Of which Florida still has more than a few.
