Theres a new startup here in Germany.

The name is Amazin.de (they newe had to advertise much and are debt-free).

An internet book shop that is in facts a network of all the bigger and smaller classic book stores. In my city allone there are 40 participating shops. If you order, you have a bring-in service with different levels (1-hour to next day) or regular mail. If you like you can fetch it yourself and you get a discount and a print-out of a city map.

This is very nice, because you can also see if a certain book is somewhere on stock, just go there and glance through it. CD-Shops take part, too. The phone numbers are also supplied, so you have a physical person you can ask for advice...

Faster & cheaper than AMZN and it includes also antiquarical books. The shops rent the computer system from the startup-company which adds adding features and takes care of the internet presence.

Attention
This is just a concept that came to my mind on your joke, not a real company ;-)

What The Difference Between PCLN and AMZN?

A few months

ROFL!

Did anyone see "Bulls and Bears" (I think that's the name of the show) this a.m. on Fox News Channel? They had that guy who won the Survivor show. He gave $350,000 of his winnings to a wirehouse broker to invest, and they showed what stocks the wirehouse guy bought for him. It was a friggin' knee-slapper--every UltraClown stock you can think of (JDSU, Nortel, CommerceOne--there were about 15 other stocks with simular hype characteristics). I think he said he gave him the money this summer and his portfolio is already down to $258,000 (from the $350k he gave him). They had him on with a panel of "experts" and the host (Brenda Buttner) said that the broker was with Merrill Lynch--after they showed what his picks did, one "expert" said, "sheesh, we oughta be shorting Merrill Lynch." THEN, to add to the comedy, the Survivor guy told the panel he wanted to buy RIMM. It was better than watching Comedy Central.

My hunch is that the current Nasdaq tough love selloff is just beginning. Since I trade full time, I get a lot of calls from non-market-sophisticated friends asking for advice. I think I've gotten more calls this week than ever from buddies asking me if they should pull $$$ out of the bank to invest. The stocks they tell me they're thinking about buying are the UltraClown/ultra-hype variety. It's been my experience that these calls are an infallible, nearly perfect contrarian indicator. Look for more Nasdog pain in the weeks to come.

<<What The Difference Between PCLN and AMZN?>>

I agree. The only thing propping AMZN up now is the Christmas holidays. When that gig is over, they're gone, really GONE, as William Shatner might say on the new (?last) PCLN commercial....<GGG>
