All votes have been counted by law...twice! Now the Gore people want double voted ballots to be assessed for "intent"...a very different motive than a "fair" counting of votes.

what is confusing? we had a vote and bush won, then we re-counted and bush won again. now we carefully count the out of towners votes and decide who wins. is that simple enough or do you think more should be done?

if you think we should do more in FL shouldn't we apply the same level of scrutiny in every district in every state? what is so special about FL...you could say that any other state that carried a similar # of electoral votes was just as pivotal/critical. If you accept dem's position, the whole FL election was botched. how do we know without applying the same level of scrutiny in all districts/all states that the vote wasn't botched elsewhere?

Well...people feel free to voice their opinions to their cyberfriends as they would to those on the phone--but nobody is attacking anybody here for a divergence of opinions.

It is weighted toward Bush, as you would expect from the investment community--altho clearly nobody got on my case when I praised both Reagan and Clinton. I appreciated the tolerance.

I agree, recount the votes, but that's not what we've got. We should be waiting patiently for all the absentee ballots. There should be no talk of a third recount, or lawsuits, or gathering affadavits, and publicizing it all via the media. I've voted for democrats more often than republicans in my lifetime, so perhaps you can appreciate that with that bias, I find what Gore and Daley are doing to be disgusting, simply a play for power, with no consideration for the health of the nation.

Abstract,

<<i see a lot of right-wing people complaining. . .>>

Why are those complaining labeled as "right-wingers"?

Jill, for example, in no way qualifies as Attila the Hun. LOL

Hello abstract,

If I may add my two cents worth.. I think most here are upset with Daley having anything to do with any recounts. Say what you will but his past history and his father's past history with elections and recounts is simply way too much like leaving the fox in charge of the henhouse.

The DNC would have a lot more credibility with anyone in charge of overseeing any recounts than Daley.

Joel

"i do not see a balance of ideas on this thread..."

Is that a requirement of some sort?

Should it be, in your opinion?

How should "a balance of ideas" be enforced, and who should determine when a balance has been arrived at?

Should special penalties be assessed on posters whose ideas are less balanced than others? And who should be the judge of that?

I agree. There is no balance. Never has been, but at least we can have a conversation with anyone about most everything, without it getting out of hand, most of the time.
