<< I think the ballot layout issue has been put to rest by the FL Secretary of State. >>

I don't think so.

From Florida law:- 101-151 Specifications for general election ballot.
<===================================================
Paragraph 5: Minor political party candidates and candidates with no party affiliation shall have their names appear on the general election ballot following the names of recognized political parties, in the same order as they were certified.
====================================================>

The ballot was clearly in violation of this paragraph. Also, even though the law does allow the squares to be on the right or the left of the candidate, the combination of the squares being on the "right and the left" of the candidates, and the violation of 101.151 P5, made the ballot in violation of Florida laws AND intent.

The reason why the ballot messed up the election was because it violated, not only the law, but the intent of the laws. There is no doubt that the illegal design of the ballot caused many thousands of voters to be denied their voting intention.

The laws were written to protect the voter. Laws and intent were not followed, and the result was a mess. Or, don't you agree?
