Gene, re:

<<I found your memo, and plea to mount a campaign to flood the VP with that memo, somewhat hypocritical.>> I will turn the other cheek to that one.

<<The Bush camp has filed a legal challenge with the Federal Court to intervene in Florida's recount. Since Florida has law's and precedence regarding recounts, why take it to Federal Court?>> A manual recount in heavily democratic counties is a travesty of our process, cynically masquerading as "voters rights", etc.. Surely you are not so naive as to think that it has NOT been common knowledge for YEARS that the balloting system(s) in most states is antiquated and rife with a very high rate of error? Just look at the throw-outs from past elections. Surely you are not so naive as to think that the manual count in those precincts will be as precise and unbiased as a machine count.

And this is what is the most galling of all of this. Dems prepared in advance for a cliffhanger, executing plans BEFORE poll closure to turn a narrow loss into a "vote fraud" issue. Bill Daley Jr. has made his Papa proud.

<<Should the outcome of a highly contested election be influenced by what happened last week in the market?>>

Should the USA (and the market, and our projection of strength overseas..) be held hostage by an orchestrated, cynical contingency plan to turn a narrow loss into a manual recount victory (or better yet, a "revote" victory)?

<<As far as appearing weak, isn't that just an opinion?>>

Why don't you ask that of the 19 year old Marine standing point tonight at the US Embassy in, say Kinshasha?

<<How do you know what is the "will of the people"? I'd guess they are divided in this respect also.>>

The "will of the people" was expressed Tues. Nov 7. Lets let the mechanized balloting system, imperfect as it is, deliver the results (as it always has) and then go about building a better system for next elections. This does NOT equate to pre-orchestrated "revote" efforts or biased manual recounts in democratic precincts.

<<Ah, a chain letter campaign by one faction.>> For the record, I am independent and have voted dem as much as I have republican in my life. However, I am very proud to state that I NEVER voted for billary and did not vote for algore (although he did receive my primary vote in 1988).

<<Let's hope when this is over that the true winner is elected and that there is consensus in the result.>>

The damage is already done. The moral squalor left by Clinton and the Gore/Daley/Lieberman democratic machine have rendered your wish impossible.
