Yes........the same JFK that gave all working Americans a tax cut which made the economy boom just like Reagan's tax cut did in the 1980s.

The vote to pass the civil rights act was almost 100% Republican "for" and the majority or Democrats "against" passage.

Senator Everett Dirkson (R) IL and the minority leader in the senate was a major force in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Without his full support and efforts the Act would never been passed.

So it was LBJ, the president and former majority leader, and Senator Dirkson, the minority leader, that were jointly responsible for passage of the Civil Rights Act.
